GSA-Tucson sold cookies along the event route, helping raise $8,595 for the Tucson Kids’ Try-athlon and $5,000 for the Blue Pants Therapeutic Recreation Fund. Remaining cookies were donated to the Giving Tree, a local nonprofit serving Tucson’s homeless and needy, and the University Medical Center.
The Kids’ Try-athlon, a free triathlon for children with special needs and disabilities, is on March 28th! Learn more about it at www.tucsonkidstri.com. |

Keep Warm, Not Dry … the Green Way
Baby, it’s cold outside—and that can mean chapped lips and dry skin. This winter, protect your skin with balms and lotions that aren’t derived from petroleum (like petroleum or paraffin jellies), a non-renewable resource. Try products made from beeswax, shea butter, aloe and plant oils instead. While you’re at it, pull on some recycled polyester fleece too: Patagonia and other retailers offer fleeces spun from recycled plastic water and soda bottles. Patagonia will also accept worn polyester garments for recycling into new ones. Recycled fleeces will keep you cozy—and keep plastics out of our landfills. |
